Coastal Lodges at Gara Mill are set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the grounds of an ancient Corn Mill which dates back to the 1550’s.
We have only nine Lodges, we are family run and we have endeavoured to create a place where anyone wanting to enjoy nature and the outdoors can come to relax or be as active as they like.
The Perfect Setting
Our secluded riverside setting with its own meadow, orchard and wildlife- rich river bank is the perfect setting for our lodges.
We have otters and small brown trout in the river and birdlife in abundance. There are insects including dragonfly, numerous butterflies and some slow worms. We even have wild orchids too.
A stream provides hours of paddling fun and our meadow is a great place to enjoy evening sun-downers or a marshmallow around the chiminea or BBQ.
Children can be as free range as our chickens, and dogs are very welcome too.
Plenty To Do & See
We have tried to establish a place where we can all enjoy the great outdoors as much as possible.
With have a BBQ area and Nature Trail and you can visit our goats and chickens and perhaps gather some hens eggs for breakfast.
The atmosphere at Coastal Lodges is generally akin to being on a camping holiday but without the downside of leaky tents!
The wonderful beaches of Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands are ten minutes drive, as is lovely Slapton village with its Chantry and great pubs.
The historic market towns of Totnes, Salcombe and Kingsbridge are also a short drive away.
An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
Coastal Lodges are located in the heart of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
This area is characterised by its peaceful countryside, pretty villages, rolling hills, colourful hedge banks, green lanes, orchards and wooded valleys.
The AONB is an ancient countryside shaped by millennia of maritime and farming traditions. It also supports an outstanding diversity of habitats, wildlife and landscape features.
