There are some great attractions on your doorstep when you stay at Coastal Lodges.

Dartmouth Castle

English Heritage

If it’s castles you’re interested in then we have some great examples from through the ages.

Totnes castle is a classic Norman motte and bailey castle which overlooks this lovely town.

Berry Pomeroy is the perfect romantic ruin where ghost stories abound and Dartmouth castle occupies an imposing site at the mouth of the river Dart.

The National Trust

Just across the River Dart you can find Agatha Christie’s former holiday home at Greenway and Arts and Crafts masterpiece Coleton Fishacre.

If you’d like some contrast there’s also the medieval fortress of Compton Castle and the modernist gem of High Cross House on the Dartington Hall Estate.

Overbecks at Salcombe and magnificent Saltram House near Plymouth are also within 40 minutes travel.


Steam Train

Local Attractions

Why not take take a trip from Dartmouth to Paignton on the steam train  or a river trip up to Totnes. There’s plenty of animals to see at Totnes Rare Breeds Farm or Pennywell Farm.

Woodlands Theme Park is only ten minutes from here and provides a great indoor and outdoor fun day out for the family if the weather isn’t great. Sharpham Vineyard is twenty minutes away where you can eat and drink happily for an afternoon.

There are fabulous river walks along the Dart too

Further Afield

Torbay has a number of attractions to keep you amused.  If you love animals there’s the award- winning Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts.  There’s also the historic caves at Kents Cavern & Babbacombe Model Village.

The historic maritime city of Plymouth is just forty minutes away.  Here you can visit the outstanding National Marine Aquarium and take in the sights of the Barbican.

Further Afield
The Eden Centre in Cornwall can be done as an easy day trip from here and is well worth a visit at any time of the year.
